frustrated!!!
I gained ten pounds while on vacation in January, I am still trying to get if off. I lift weights and work with a trainer 1/2 hour 3 times a week. I do cardio on the treadmill 4-5 times a week, 3 miles an hour and at an average incline of 5. I cut out my one downfall low fat wheatable crackers. I know my thyroid is low my pcp has raised the dosage twice since January and I also started on naladol (to prevent migraines) and I wonder since in slows down your heart rate if it contributes to my difficulty getting off this weight. I would love any suggestions to start losing again.
Thanks,
Judi

Hi Judi,
Have you tried talking to Erin or Rebecca (Dr. C.'s nutritionists)? I'm just guessing but with all your exercise you might need to raise your calories. I'm not sure how the thyroid fits into that but I know that your body tries to hang onto weight if it feels it might be starving (too few calories in relationship to exercise amount).

Hi Judi,
I actually worked for six months in a gym years ago when I was not so large, and I lost 60lbs while I worked there because I am a work aholic. Long story. Anyway, one of the things that I have learned about exercise, and from a good source is that you have to SHAKE IT UP when you have been doing the same routine for a while, your Boby Tempurate is use to what you are doing, it will not burn off the extra weight until you feed it more, like the first suggestion you recieved and increase your work out level with some serious intensity to let your body clock/body tempature know that you are going to continue to feed it (our bodies think we are straving anytime we change something in our routine) so increase healthy calories, good protein and step up your exercise intensity not length of exercise but the speed and endurance to move your body to the next step is the best way I can discribe it.
Hope it helps,
Samantha Sue
When did you start on the Naladol? I had weight gain when taking migraine medication. Also, have you been drinking while eating? That will certainly do it as well. I wouldn't think it is your Thyroid. I have a low Thyroid too. If the Doctor has already changed your medication twice since January especially. Unless this medication is not for you.
