In Pain When I Eat!!!
Hi,
I am just over 4 weeks post op from my RNY. I have had a few things to eat that cause so much pain I thought I was having a heart attack!!! One of them was chicken (in soup) and the other one was a piece of periogie. The pain lasted about 20 minutes and I could feel the food trying to go down. Did I eat too fast or what??? I'm worried that I did damage to my pouch and stoma. Am I ever going to be able to eat again? I would appreciate any thoughts on this.
I have lost about 29 lbs and am feeling down because the scale stopped moving.
well we are about at the same place I had my surgery the 6th of March there are some things that bother me but as I have just started eating solid food I figure it's gonna take time to learn. the periogie might have bothered you because of the bready outside I have been told that bread bothers alot of people and chicken can bother people if it is dry also if you eat too fast and don't chew it to mush. I'm sorry you are having this problem but it will get easier. I know these last few days have been trial and error for me but usually with the pain for me the food comes back up so it doesn't last too long. my biggest problem right now is odors and getting nauseated so will keep you in my prayers.
Shelly, first Congrats on your surgery and welcome to the family. All I can tell you is about my experience. First, I am almost 20 months out..Had surgery in Aug. 2005 and to this day chicken and turkey (poultry) usually makes me vomit, I can sometimes eat a few bites of dark meat, but I have to chew until it is almost liquid. As for the other stuff, just make sure you really chew things well, to a mush texture. I to this day can't really eat "bread" it bothers me most of the time. I can take a bite or two but I never eat a full piece, as much as my mind wants to, my body says NO....try to listen to your body, it will tell you what you can and can't eat. It's really trial and error, I still have problems with foods that on one day I can eat non-stop then on the next day I get sick with. I hope this helps in some way and feel free to ask me anything you want, I'm an open book for questions....
