I'm Home!!!!
Thanks Teresa.....I'm a little sore where they cut through the mussel and nerves to get to the stomach. The doc and Mike (his surgical nurse) were pleasently supprised when they opened me up. Doc told Mike he thought they would be there for hours but the 30 pounds I lost before surgery did the trick I guess. He said the liver shrunk and that it was really pretty easy. Now if you were to ask me what I thought. It felt like they went in with a jack hammer (thats because I didn't take any meds. Just do as they say). I tried to play the tought guy and not take any thing for the pain. But I finally did take 1 the following day. I still have only taken 5 sence they performed the operation. Just take your pain meds and you'll be fine....I promise
When is your surgery again?

Dave,
I am so glad that things went well. It sounds like it was a good experience.
My surgery is at OSU with Dr. Mikami on April 11th. I will be admitted on the 10th for a filter placement. I have a few weeks to go. Time feels like it is moving very slowly. There seems to be many March and April surgeries on the board. I am glad that it is in the spring when it will be nice to walk outside.
Be well!
Teresa
Hello Cindy....They have made the whole 8th floor at Riverside the Bariatric wing. There are a few other people in there for different types of surgery but the Bariatric patients have a room to themselves which makes it nice (and quite at night too). Everyone there was really great. They knew why you were there and did everything possibe to make you feel at home. I learned very early on in life if you just be nice to people they will be nice to you.
Dave
Judy,
Here's the link for the Over Fifty Forum. I spend most of my time on that board. They are a great group of people. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/over_50/
