3 Week Post-Op Check-Up

Hey everyone, I had my 3 week post op w/ Dr. Ben-Meir yesterday. OK, so maybe my expectations where just a little to high in regards to this appointment and my expecation of weight loss. So when I was weighed in they told me I have lost 19 POUNDS!!! I was like WHAT? Are you sure? She's like "Yeah, thats right." I asked, "How could that be. I've been working my butt off. What do you have my starting weight at?" She has it at 351 (A week & a half ago, I saw my primary care, he had me down by 30 lbs (starting @ 360). So I was expecting about 35 or so from Ben-Meir b/c it was a week and half later). Obviously the 9 pound difference in the starting weight has to be factored in. IM just shocked. I asked if that was normal b/c it sounded to little for the amount of food IM NOT EATING!!! She said that "8 - 12 % is considered normal and you are at 9%. On the low end of the scale but still within the normal range." Im so disappointed. Am I being to hard on myself and acting crazy? Why am I so depressed about losing 19 pounds. I would tell anyone else, that's really good (my mom and sister are really excited about it) but Im actually very disappointed in myself. Why am I not happy about 19 pounds in 3 weeks? Sorry to rant. Thanks for listening. Kym

Kym, 19# is great! Even that is almost 1# per day. You've probably never lost 19# that fast have you. You'll get there, just keep up the good work.

Wow Kym for someone who is awaiting surgery that sounds AWESOME to me!!! The last time I lost 19 lbs it took me almost 6 months to loose that much weight! So be encouraged. Sometimes we tend to compare our stats to others and that can set us up for dissappointment when we don't match their success. But be assured that you are doing great and very successful at loosing weight. And just think.... that's 19 lbs. you'll never see again!!!! Keep up the good work! Cheers, Lisa surgery date: April 25th!

Congrat's on the 19 lbs. loss. I'm a pre-op'er, but that sounds good to me. I went to the doctor today and had lost 8 lbs., my husband said well that's better than gaining 8 lbs. Ha Ha I've been sick with a sinus infection, so I'm guessing that's why I lost in the first place. Keep up the good work and I will be on the losing side with you in appr. 2 weeks. Annetta

Wow Kym I remember you in class last week. Man 19 pounds that's wonderful. I'm still waiting on my approval.. I can't wait. Are you getting better with the... was i****er or protein? Did you try the Lean Cusine? Don't be so hard on yourself We didn't gain the weight overnight. Give your self a pat on the back for even going through this ordeal. Take care Jan
