Hello I'm new to this site. I got my lap-band on Mar 5, 2007 at St Luke Hosp. West in Florence Ky. Dr Thomas Sonnanstine is my doctor and he has been just great, in fact he "banded" both my husband and I the same day so we are recovering together and losing together so far I'm at 22 lbs lost and my husband is 24 lbs lost. I'm down 40 lbs total since we began this journey. We are still on the liquid portion of our diet and we don't go back to the do****il March 23. we can't advance to another stage in the diet until the doc says we can. we are getting our protien in and are not hurting to much, if anyone has any high protien very filling drinks to share or other recipes we would welcome them, we are feeling some hunger, stomach growling alot.

Congrats to you and your husband! Was it like a renewal of your vows since you both got brand new bands on the same day? Ok, so they aren't gold, and they aren't exactly the same, but it's a cool idea right? I am scheduled to be banded on Tuesday March 20th here in Columbus, and am very excited. Have you had your first fill yet? My doc says I won't have that for 6 weeks post. I'm at a week and a half on liquids, and have found that GNC has some great new powder flavors. Today I picked up banana creme, orange creme, chocolate caramel creme, and cookies and cream. I use soups to satisfy the need for savory taste since I get tired of the sweets! Isopure has 40 grams of protein per bottle, and can be found at GNC also. There's also a new Special K protein water...trying it tomorrow, so I'll let you know what it tastes like. Anyway, wish me luck on Tuesday! Hope all goes well for you in the weeks to come, and maybe you could drop me a line to let me know what I'm in for? Take care, Karrie

Hello, we both wish you luck on Tuesday! you'll do fine. We have tried the Isopure, I think that will be one of the "food" items my husband will take to work with him he goes back Monday. The surgery and recovery is not bad at all, your small incisions will start to itch a bit that means things are healing I don't know how your Doc will do it but I think our cuts were glued shut we have no visible stitches don't overdo the bending and reaching for things when you first get home at least not for the first week because that will cause twinches... good example bending from washer to throw clothes in the dryer just take it slow or if you drop something on the floor it will hurt to try and pick it up if you have one of those grabbie things to pick things up keep it close by keep in touch let us know how you are doing.

Georgia, Congratulations to both of you. My wife and I had Open Banded RNY last April. It was so much easier doing it together. Good luck and congratulations on your new life. Keep in touch. Floyd
