Hey Everyone, I had my surgery 1/19/07 and I've only lost 18 lbs... and 8 of it was b4 my surgery on the pre-op liquid diet... I dont' know many people who have had the surgery but I was hoping the weight would come off much faster than this... My friend had the surgery 2/27/07 and has already lost 36 lbs 20 b4 the surgery and 16 since so i don't understand why i'm not losing more weight I walk 5 days a week for 60 minutes and then i do tae-bo 3 days a week.... I have my third fill tomorrow and i'm hoping this will speed up the weight loss but i haven't been eating much as it is so i'm not sure how much another fill will help... If anyone can give me some advice i'd really appreciate it

My advice is to calm down. You are ahead of the curve. With Lap Band you should expect to lose 1-2 lbs a week. And that is after you hit your sweet spot. Is the other person you are comparing yourself to quite a bit bigger? If you have more to lose, you tend to lose faster.. but only at the beginning. Just make sure you are getting your water in, and eating your protein. It will come. The best advice I have for you is: Take Measurements Take Pictures Only weigh once a week if the scale tends to bug you (which it seems it does) And dont compare yourself to others! Good Luck Amanda

I am due to have my surgery next tuesday, i weigh about 250 now and she advised i would probably lose like 20-25 in the first to months, i think with the lap band it is slow and constant and with the rouny it is quick and plateau. do you have more muscle than fat. She told me because i am muscular do not work out until end of may because it would hinder my 20-25lb spread. Also please dont compare your weight loss to others, they are two different journeys. it will come.

When I had the band I only lost 13 pounds the first 6 months. I have heard it takes awhile to get enough fills to find your sweet zone. Best of luck!

Casey what does when you had the band mean? Did you get unbanded? Did you follow the guidelines to a T? Everybody in my support group are saying they have lost between 20 and 196 lbs. One lady lost 30lbs in the first month. She has already went from a 22 to a 16. I guess i need to quit focusing on the weight loss and more the health aspect.

Yes I had my band removed Nov 15th 2005, My band slipped into a hiatal hernia and had to be removed and could not be replaced. So I had the gastric bypass done when they removed it. In all actuallity I was not happy with my band. My port site hurt all the time. I complained about it to my surgeon and he said it was just healing. Well when it was removed the new surgeon said there was so much scar tissue from infections! But with the hernia I probably wasn't supposed to get it. I had the adjustable band. My twin sister had the other banding and has done awesome.

Thanx everyone for your responses... I am like you Nycia I am very focused on the numbers.. I weigh myself just about every day and I take my measurements once a month... I can see my clothes fitting differnetly so I'm trying to be ok with that but sometimes the numbers really trip me up... I am gonna focus my energies on eating right and getting enough protein and drinking enough water hopefully this will help...
