It's been one week
Well today is my one week mark I have lost 15 pounds so far. I had mine done at the Air Force Base and it seems they do so many things differently. My friend had her surgery yesterday in Dayton she is already eating I am on crystal light, we were taught how much to drink she was given a big cup of coffee etc... and expected to know when to stop so I don't know which is best. I knew our weight loss would be different because of our sizes and such but now I don't know how to go it seems she is allowed a lot more. I guess I will stick with my doctors plans and take things one step at a time. Just could use a little push me sometimes I guess. I know I did the right thing because of all my health problems but alot of people don't understand I just met the weight guidelines I'm just looking forward to being healthy. The other thing is they said I would be off of most of my meds and I'm not maybe after tomorrows drs appointments I will get off of a few. Well thanks for listening. God Bless you all
Hi Denise,
Congratulations on your successful surgery.
I had the Laproscopic RNY by-pass on 02/26/07, so Im 2 weeks post op. 15 pounds is remarkable. Good for you. Doesn't it feel great? Try not to compare you loss with that of your friend. Everyone will do it differently. Also, I have read on this board that some people come home from the exact same surgery and come home to pureed foods. FOLLOW WHAT YOUR DOCTOR TELLS YOU!!! My diet plan seems to be the same as yours. Post-Op days 2-10 - Clear liquids only. Post-Op days 11-28 - pureed. It has to be able to be poured from a cup. Then starting the 5th week, soft foods and then gradually add a new food everyday. Doug Z who is on this site imparted the best advise he said "...Keep in mind, the more you baby your pouch now, the better off you will be later. A wise support group leader once told me to baby that pouch, because you're much like a baby learning to eat again....." He is right. Take and heed his advise. I want to do this right as Im sure you do as well.
As far as the medications, it may take a couple of months to get fully off the med's. Im on BP med's and I only got mine cut in half. My Dr. said that he isn't looking until beginning of May before I can completely go off the meds.
I hope this helps. Best wishes to you Denise!!
Kym
Kym you really are a wonder you seem to always have the right things to say. today I met with my doctor and got to eat hurrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!! I had smushed up cottage cheese which was on my list, it's actually kind of fun trying to think of tasty things you may want for you meals. I unlike alot of people love most baby food so doctor said I'd do great lol. Just have to keep up eating my protein. Now newest worry would be losing my hair not that it hasn't happened before had to have brain surgery and do have wig but not looking forward to it if it does happen. So how are you doing? I would love to be added to your friends list and to add you to mine (don't know how). Maybe one day we could talk on phone you seem like a very special woman.
God's Blessings to you and yours
