NEWBIE TO THIS WEBSITE. JUST GOT MY APPROVAL...

Hello to everyone- I just got my approval for the lap band surgery. I have to go see Dr. Kam at Barix Clinic this coming Thursday for a "revisit" since it's been almost a year since I saw him. It's taken this long to get everything in order for my insurance company. It's been a long road, but since I got the go ahead for the surgery, it doesn't seem to matter anymore. It was worth the wait and all the work I had to do to get to this point. My husband is still waiting for his approval. He's getting antsy since I got mine and he hasn't heard anything yet. Is anyone from the Bowling Green area? Are there any support groups around here? Could anyone reply with their experiences with having LapBand surgery? It would be greatly appreciated. Congratulations on your approval Jackie!! I hope to be getting mine soon. As far as support groups go, there should be one through the hospital in Bowling Green since Dr. Lane (I believe that's his name) operates there. Plus I saw a post just the other day about forming a support group in the Toledo area. Let us know when you get your date. Peggy

Hi everyone!!! Hope you are all doing fine. Here's the latest on my situation. I told you I got my approval and I did, but I got a phone call from the doctor's office today telling me that they had just contacted my insurance company to see what portion they would pay and they found out that they aren't in my network so I had to call around to find a new doctor today. Believe it or not, I found one. It's really a weird situation, but I think this was meant to be this doctor and not the other doctor. As my husband says, "Everything happens for a reason." Maybe I should start believing him....LOL!! I also found out today that my husband got his approval just today and it won't be a big deal to change doctors. YAHOO!!!! I was a little worried there for a bit. I can't wait to talk to all of you more and share in your experiences too. Good luck to all of you.

I have to agree with your husband. I started out at Barix in Columbus because my ins told me there was no one in network. It only took 4 days to be approved but they said Summa was in network. So, started the process over again but I feel so much better about my new Dr. The new dr just needed to write a letter to get it changed to them. I'm starting preop testing, psych eval on Friday, nutritian on Monday, Endo on 3-26 and Cardio consult on 4-11. Everything is moving right along. God has his timing and there is a reason. I have even been to a support group at Summa and really enjoyed it. Good luck to you both.
