I have read alot about using a wooden spoon or tongs with toilet paper wrapped around it. Is this necessary because you are too sore to reach back and wipe? Just wondering. Don't mean to sound stupid just don't want to be surprised after my surgery.

From what I understand from reading different explanations, is that some people have trouble reaching the necessary areas before they have surgery, so after surgery they use the spoon or tongs to better reach these areas.

I think it depends on how sore you are. I had no problem taking care of my own business... thank the Lord but I do have friends that had to have some help. Hope this helps. Maris

I was glad I didn't have a BM for a few days afterward, because I was sore enough to where I couldn't have reached there. By the time post op day 4 or 5 came around though, I was fine. Lori
