HELP

Has anyone had surgery or a consult at the Barix Clinic in Columbus?

I had a consult there I believe almost 2 1/2 years ago with Dr Stelmack (sp?) I went through the whole process and when sent in my paperwork to the insurance co. I found out they wouldn't cover the Barix. I had to end up going to Mt Carmel, but it all ended up working out in the end just took a lot longer. Dawn

I went through the BArix, the people are very nice and the doctors are great.... but they have made a bunch of cut backs in the last 14 months and went from 3 surgeons to 1 and cut much of the other staff as well, they say because of Insurance reimbursement. I have had wonderful results, when I have called and left a message I have had my calls returned in a timley manor. My 6 month visit though I sat for over 2 hours before seeing the doctor because they are understaffed- at 3 mo I sat for 40 min waiting for my iron script! My ins changed the first of the year and I cannot finish out with them (I will be 1 year in April) but after the last 2 visits I am not too upset about that. Dr Viglianco is wonderful, and the center is great but unless they have added more help, be prepared for very long appointments. Pam

Hello Mary-Anna....My wife and I went to the Barix seminar in December. Our first impression was it was easy to get to (I live in Westerville) and a really a nice place. The people were very friendly the chairs and furnishings made for large people. The doctor seemed nice but that's where things ended. We were told that someone from the insurance end of it would get in touch with us in a few days. Well a few days turned into a few weeks. Then I never heard from them until last week. In the meantime I had to see my kidney doctor at Riverside and while I was there I told him I was trying to have WLS done. He told me that he thought Riverside just started a new WLS program and that I should check it out. I looked into it the next week and low and behold my insurance company approved my application for surgery today. The program is called "Fresh Start" and it is headed up by Dr. Myers. He and his staff come from Mansfield. So far I don't have any complaints. I see doctor Myers on Tuesday and I hope he gives me a surgery date then. They, Fresh Start handle "everything" in house from the dietition, physical therapy, shrink to the insurance. Well I've typed enough for now. If you have any questions feel free to Email me.
