Problem with Eating???

My Surgery was Dec 28th 2006, It's now 9 wks to the day and I still can't EAT. Only pureed and drinks, Dr. balloned my throat twice to try to open it up , Then 2 weeks ago he went back in and said that it was too swallon to do anything yet. Help, HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM???????? I do wish I could eat chili or Mac& cheese of something besides soup and Mash potatoes.

Ron, Awe, Im sorry. I haven't had this problem yet (I just had surgery on Monday). I just wanted to say that I am sorry that you are having this complication. I hope you get it turned around soon!!!

I don't have any wisdom concerning your problem, although I do feel for you...I know the pureed stage is hard, but to have to still be dealing with it at 9wks. out mst be very trying.....You might want to post this question on the main board or the complication board, to get more insight to it...Also, warm tea is a great soother, maybe it could help to reduce the swelling and allow you some relief....Sorry

I had the same problem and my surgeon scoped me and said I had some narrowing of my esophagus, which he was able to expand during the scoping. I have been great since. It was about 2 months out when this occurred and now I am almost 6 months out and doing terrific. Is ballooning your throat the same as running a scope down your throat and esophagus? You may want to ask your Dcotor. Good luck. Just hang in there everyday gets better. Janet K. (70 pounds lost in 6 months. I'm only 15 pounds from goal.)

Thanks for the kind words, Yes balloning is the same thing and we've been there TWICE. Some days I don't have problems with like Chicken noodle soup and some days I DO. GOOD part is the weight is falling fast 60lbs in 10 weeks. Thanks again
