One of our GBS family has passed away

I am sorry to inform everyone that Sonja Tyler has passed away recently.She was a patient of Dr. Hallowell at University Hospital.I do not know if her death was related to the procedure, I saw the obituary in today's newspaper.Sonja was a great friend to me at the time of my surgery.She and I did no more than share words on this website, and talk on the phone once or twice, but at the time, it helped me alot.If anyone knows what happened to her, please contact me. I am very saddened by her passing. It just shows how important and wonderful this website is.There are beautiful people here who have taken the time to ease the worries of others, we should all remember them even long after our surgeries.Sometimes a perfect stranger can change our life for the better.Sonja did that for me, just by talking to me when I needed a friend who understood what I was going through.Please remember her in your thoughts. I'm sorry you've lost a friend. I didn't know her but still her family and friends will be in my thoughts. I hope they find comfort and peace now, when they need it the most. THey would be moved to know that their loved one had such a positive impact on people like you Michelle. Hugs, Tammi

michelle; thank you for bringing this to the boards. i don't know anything about sonja...however...she is one of us! early on in my journey, i angeled for brenda salley from chillicothe and she passed...it was somewhat-repeat somewhat-related to her surgery-more to the co morbidities that she had--and it was a very hard thing fro me to take but confirmed my resolve to have my own surgery. we do form bonds thru these boards that many can never understand. i share in your sorrow this morning.and certainly put sonja's family in my prayers.i also pray that you become stronger thru this in sonja's memory.

Michelle, I sorry you lost a friend, I didn't know her, but know what kind of friend you're talking about, I call them our WLS heroes, who help us along, pre and post-op. I hope someone will contact you. Doug
