I Can't Believe This!!!!
I swore that I wouldn't hound the insurance company about my paperwork progression, but it has been 25 days since it was sent! I have Medical Mutual, but we are part of a self-funded plan and have an administrator -- Klais. So I called the contact person for our group at Klais. She was very polite and told me that they don't handle those kind of things there, that they are sent to Care Allies, a medical management company. She said that she responded back to St. V's on the 9th that the paperwork was sent to the wrong place. I then called Care Allies and talked to another polite person, a nurse, who informed me that they don't even have any information on me! So she started a file and put the basic information in it and told me to call Latonya at St. V's and get her to fax everything to them. After receiving the fax I was told that it should only be 48 to 96 hours for an answer.
I am so glad that I called! I've been waiting for something in the mail and practically beating down the mailman as he walks up the drive with our mail.
By the way.....I called Latonya, but her voice mail said she was in a meeting until three so I left a message, emailed her and will call again after 3.
I think this is a perfect example as to why we all need to be our own advocate. Keep on them. Insurance companies deal with literally thousands of insureds each and every day and don't have the personal connection to the insured so aren't completely motivated to "push" things thru. Your just another file in their desk.
Your doing the best thing. Keep following up and I hope that you can get your process moving.
