Starting a new job!!!
Although it is not my first choice for employment, it is a job. I am trying to figure out a good eating schedule, to make sure I get in my protein and nutrients. It is an hour commute one way, so I have to eat a little while before I leave, and I am thinking to eat when I get there, but it seems so close together. My body has gotten used to being fed about every 2-2 1/2 hours. I am slowly going to try and stretch this to 3, but I think anything beyond that would be pushing it.
Any suggestions would be great!!
EAS makes a great protein drink that you could do for 1 meal and is easy to grab. IT's called Advant Edge carb control... you can get it at Wal Mart or Krogers. they also do a very good Whey powder. I get it at Sams Club. 25 proteins a serving. 90 servings a bag for 25.00.. a good deal. I use the vanilla in my coffee... gets in a "meal" without much fuss. I drive an hour to work as well, and I will drink this on the way, then I don't feel too bad since I often wait until lunch to refuel... good luck on the new job.
Peace, Pam
Thanks for the suggestions. I did pretty good my first day. The job is flexible so I can eat or drink as needed. I will just have to play around with times until I find something that works.
I had another incident where I almost passed out again last night. It happened about 1 month ago, 2 times in one day. I had just eaten an hour before it happened last night, so I do not know what is causing this. I was OK after I sat down for a minute or so, but it is still scary and I don't want the other worker going to my supervisor and saying that I almost passed out. It doesn't look good.
I go back to my PCP in a couple of weeks, so I will talk to her then about it.
Hey Kristina,
Congratulations on the new job.
I fix a protein drink first thing in the morning and drink it before leaving the house. I use the 100% Whey Protein Powder from GNC and mix that with 6 oz. of fat free skim milk (27 g). I drink that about 6 AM and then eat a Kroger brand yogurt (with 1 1/2 TBSP of powdered milk added for additional protein total 11 g) about 8 or 8:30. I usually can make it then until lunch time. Lunch is many times a piece of lunch meat rolled up around a low-fat string cheese (15 g). Sometimes 1/2 C cottage cheese (7g) is good also with a little pineapple. Afternoons I like a South Beach Breakfast bar (I like the cinnamon raisin) which is 10 grams of protein. Dinner could be 2 - 3 oz chicken, 1/2 C lima beans and 1/2 C applesauce for a total of 18 to 25 g of protein. Total protein for the day would be 81 to 95 grams.
Hope this helps. Try one of the insulated lunch bags with some of the refreezable containers to help keep things cold.
Have a great day.
Mike
