Question about OSU?
I had surgery at OSU with Dr. Mikami. He and the staff are great. I have had one complication, which is a common one. I had a stricture but Dr. Mikami took care of it and I have not had any major problems since then. I am glad I had the surgery and I would do it again.
The only problem I had with the staff was the first time I went in the receptionist complained that I had cash for my copay. All I had was a $20 bill and she did not have change. I told her that I walked out the door without my checkbook on accident. Luckily, my father-in-law had some cash with him and could break my 20.
Also, the day of the surgery, I do not know how much I weighed b/c the scale at admissions did not register my weight, so I went with a weight I was from the week before.
Let me know if I can help in any way.
I also had Dr. Mikami at OSU. He and the staff were wonderful. I had one nurse (night nurse) I didn't much care for, but I told them I didn't want her the next night and I didn't see her again. I also was in a room right across from the nurses station and if my door was open it was noisy. YEPPERS, I'd hit my call button and ask them to shut my door for me (which they always did, and I never heard the first "sigh" about it). I love Janice Durant, Dr. Mikami's assistant (I don't know what she is really...but she is always perky and happy and everytime I called she was upbeat and wonderful).
I also had one complication (I'm sure its just a fluke that you are getting two answers, and two complications). I had my GB removed at the time of my WLS and it was enlarged, so they had to kind of force it thru the incision....so I had a little more pain than expected, and the incision became infected. Once we discovered that, however, they got me in immediately to be examined, and put me on great antibiotics...it was looking and feeling better literally in a day.
Dr. Mikami, I can't say enough about him....I kind of panicked on the day they were to release me and he insisted I stay one more night so he could check on me....so yes, I like him very much.
And Another one of Mikami's Angels here. I have no regrets about picking his office and him for a surgeon. He is a sweetheart of a man, and really no problems with the office staff. They are human and a peice of paper can get lost every blue moon. But all in all he was freindly, caring, sweet, professional, safety concious and a great talented surgeon and an amazing human being.
Took an extra long time to do my surergy and work through a ton of scar tissue and still do it laproscopically. What a sweetheart.
Have a great day
Laura
I am going through Mt. Carmel West for my surgery because OSU kept giving me the run-around about the total cost of the surgery. I had to go to a forum before I could even obtain paperwork at Mt Carmel and they were very straight forward about everything. Plus, Dr. Price is supposed to be one of the best.
I'm sure all will go well at OSU and best wishes!
