I had my surgery on 02/07/07 and have been home now for 1 week. I have not been very hungry and have not drank a lot. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on eating enough protein and drinking enough water. I feel fine and have changed the time of day I take my vitamins, which has helped with eating. I feel good, just a little tired. I wear out easily if I walk a lot.

Tanya, sounds like you're doing great. You should have received some guidelines from your program. If not, send a PM, and I'll try to help. Your fatigue is completely normal. Remember, you're still recovering from major surgery.

Hi Tanya, I wouldn't even worry about protein at this stage. Just try not to get dehydrated, & you'll be doing good. I love the Walmart brand sugar-free popsicles. They come in a clear plastic bag & have flavors like pineapple, blue-raspberry, etc. Also, thinned down cold Crystal Light is good. Instead of plain broth, I finely strained Campbell's chicken noodle soup & drank the broth off of it. A few weeks from now you will feel more like yourself. Good luck! Darlene

Try to drink protein drinks instead of other things. I didn't get enough protein until I was about a month out and it is still a struggle most days. I haven't coordinated drinking enough liquids and getting enough protein -- but I am only 8 weeks out --- so I guess there is still time to learn.
