Question for our Dr C
I am 16 months out. I have been at a stall for several months lost 172 pounds and my body says NO MORE. I eat well, I drink plenty of water, Work out religiously. But cant seem to get my heart rate above 75-80. That is running on the treadmill at 5mph on the steepest incline for about 20 mins. I also do 20 mins on the eliptical machine , 1\20 reps of each exercise on the machine and my heart rate still doesnt put me into an aerobic workout per the chart on the wall. I am worried that my CHF, Cardiomyopathy and cardiomegally are keeping my heart rate so low that i am not getting any physical benefit from my workouts. I also do 45 mins of laps and water aeorbics. My measurements are changing and muscle is most certainly being made. But I want to see that scale go down as well. Is there any corelation between the sluggish heart rate and the rate of which I burning/ not burning fat. My Dr recently took me off my diovan and the lasix and i am wondering if maybe my heart needs the meds to work properly.
Also since last Thursday I have felt like everything i have eaten is getting stuck as it is entering my pouch. I get severe foamies, have terrible tummuy pain and lots of quick running to the bathroom. Is is possible to get a stricture this far out post op.
I really appreciate your opinions, and respect the heck out of you

Hi Amanda,
I just posted here. I know he watches the board, and thought I would give it a shot and see if he had an opinion. I know I should be getting in touch with Dr Mikami, but i have other health issues now that make a stricture seem like a walk in the park. LOL
Take care Miss Amanda.

Laura,
I'm not sure what's up by I replied to this message a few days ago but I don't see it anywhere...
You can get a stricture at any time after a RNY. Sometimes it starts with an ulcer then progresses to a stricture.
As far as your heart rate, I bet you are on a beta blocker which will prevent your heart rate from increasing. You may want to ask your PCP next time you see him or her. I don't think it has anything to do with your metabolism per se.
