Hello new member and question.....

Hi I'm Tina! I am 48 yrs young and live in Elyria. I am hoping to have WLS at the Cleveland Clinic. I was wondering if anyone has Medical Mutual of Ohio the Super Med Plus plan and if it was hard to be approved and if it took long. Thanks Tina

Hey Tina Welcome!! Well you have asked the billion dollar question. They are VERY particular about the information they want. If you have it, you'll get it. If it's not EXACTLY the way they want it, you have to get it or fight them. I did a little bit of both. I finally asked for an outside review and they "rereviewed" my file and said the new information was enough. BS - it was the same info, they just new they would loose. Good luck Sharyn

Hi Tina, I have Med Mutual and did not have any problem being approved. Fortunately I had been with the same Primary Doc for 5 years and she had all my weights and I had been on a medically supervised diet through a research study for 18 months, so I met all their requirements. Just be sure to do everything exactly as they ask, and Deb Cash at the Cleveland Clinic is really good with them and will help a lot. I also had surgery at Cleveland Clinic with Dr. Schauer. I really think he is a tremendously skilled doc, and would recommend him, but be aware their aftercare is just about non-existant. I can't even get them to order my 1 year blood tests so I can have my 1 year check up - and no one cares! Thank goodness for this web site so I knew what to expect and had people to ask when I had questions. Good Luck, Cal
