I am finding my way around here. I just want to introduce myself... My name is Amber... I am 27 yrs old... been married for almost 7 yrs. I have two daughters, Hannah-7, Abby-4, and Gabe-6 months. I have been contemplating WLS (rny) for about 3 or 4 yrs now, but have always chickened out. I am 100% ready this time... and 100% confident that this is for me. I guess the timing wasn't right before but now it is. I am sooo ready!! I attended yet another seminar last Saturday w/ the program at St. Vincents. I am waiting on the office to call to set up my consult w/ the surgeon. I am 260 lbs. and 5 ft. tall w/ a BMI of 49. I have sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome. My sugars have been creeping higher and higher. It is time for me to do this! I love this site and am so thankful that I found it!! I can't wait to get to know you all better! Your stories are amazing!!!

Hi Amber, I have not posted in a long time, but your post reminded me of myself. Not that I am nearly as young as you are. I am 2 years post-op as of 2/7/07. I am now 54 years old, but your problems with sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome, and rising blood sugars certainly rang a bell with me. I have suffered with all! Since having RNY in 2/05, I have lost about 120 lbs. (I am also 5 feet tall), My starting BMI was 53. My problems with blood sugar disappeared, I am no longer on C-PAP and unfortuneatley, the RLS doesn't improve with WLS. I have so much more energy and can do so much more without any difficulty. I know that with small children that would be a big plus for you. You can see my profile if you want. Chris Wittmer, I live in southern Ohio, but come from the Cleveland area orginally. Good luck in your journey and please feel free to contact me if you would like.
