Have you had a obsession with anything after your surgery?? It seems to me that almost everyone I have met who has had WLS, has developed a issue with something else in place of eating too much.I know I have, and I don't feel there is enough information given to us after our procedure to help combat this situation.Just wondering if anyone else has had experience with this.Thanks.

Michelle, I think we all are obsessive about something. I had my surgery 19 months ago and am really having a hard time walking now. I was walking 5 miles a day now that it is winter I have been a real slacker! I am still obsessed with losing weight. I still want to lose another 6 pounds! Dr Jasper made me promise that I would stop......I know I should but still want to lose more! Why not come to the support group meetings at UH? They are (in case you forgot) on the 3rd Monday of the month. Peggy and Kristen are doing a great job! Also they are giving us parking passes so we don't have to pay! Sue 325/130 goal/125 current

Yes! For awhile it was shopping, but that costs too much money. Now it is sex. Hubby isn't complaining about this obsession at all. Haa ha! Darlene

Hey Michelle My addiction leads me to different things - alcohol/sex - but the underlying addiction is ATTENTION!!!!! Love attention, want attention, can't wait to get more attention!! Make sure you have some good friends you can talk to - I mean REAL ones - and if nothing else, talk to us and don't hold anything back. Sharyn

I agree that this is an excellent post. I watched a show on Oprah about it... and I am aware that it happens. I wonder what I'll replace food with. I want to make sure that it's nothing harmful though so I really want to stay aware as the weight comes off...

Hi there, I was reading your profile and I am so impressed. I want to ask you about the 6 month diet you had to go on before you were aproved, do you know if all insurance is like this, is Medicare like this? You looked so miserable after the surgery, i know this is no picnic but how long before you get better.

Thank you/ Medicare doesnt need the 6 month diet. My dr takes you right in on medicare. Medical mutual did want the diet/ I just went to my dr told him what i wanted him to put me on a supervised diet. i went in every month for 6 months and talk to him had weigh ins and told him my excercises. I gained and lost the same 5 pounds. ended up at the even weight i started at. I had open surgery it was really hard on me. By the 6 week it was amazing. the first 3 weeks was hell. The more you walk the faster you heal. So far my worst surgery. I was in so much pain. It isnt like that for everyone. I was just one of those people. It got the best ofme. I worked out dai;y with walking. I would do it in a minute again. It saved my life. I had a heart attack at 45 so look at me know. If I had waited i would have not lived long. I have chf and still fight the heart problems. But at least im alive. Thank you and best wishes Barb
