Need support
I am just 9 months out and 10 pounds under my goal. I have lost over 120 pounds. Nothing in the last week so that is good. I never in a million years would have considered this an issue I would have to deal with. I can still only eat about 1/2 c of solid food. I am ok with that if the weight would stop dropping ... I am quite happy here and then maybe adding a few pounds of muscle! I think I had an ulcer in Nov-Dec. I had some left over Nexium and felt better after a few weeks on it. ( I had switched to over the counter iron... big mistake) sometimes I just feel like my pouch does not empty, I get nausea but no vomiting, but I wonder if I have too small an opening from my pouch, I honestly could go days after eating and just do fluids- I have to force myself to eat. And of course, my insurance changed the first of the year and I can no longer see my surgeon.... I see my gastroenterologist this Friday... I'll see what he has to say, I don't know if he has experience scoping RNY patients... so I will ask....
I need to get on photobucket and learn how to do it... my pics are 6 mo old! Other than the nausea, i do feel great and even went out this am early to walk my dog in the snow!

Hi Pam,
I too lost weight very rapidly and worried when it didn't seem to stop. I had an ulcer which didn't help matters, but with medication it is under control. I stopped losing weight after 2 years and have since regained 30 pounds. I was to skinny! Now I try and manage the weight I am now, (160) and still take medicine for the ulcer. I think the body gets used to that starvation mode and it takes awhile for it to regroup and allow us to eat more. Truth be told, I would have never thought that I would make a statement that I was to thin! Now I am like most people and worry if I gain a pound. I still go to the gym on a regular basis and while some people tell me that I looked better when I was ultra thin, my body feels better at this weight. Course I have a closet full of size 4/6 clothes that I will never wear again! But I wore them once and I thought that would never happen! Hang in there, it does get better!

Pam,
I had my surgery 2/14/06. Like you I still can only eat a little and there are times when I get sick at my stomach. Before I had my surgery I took Nexium everyday because I have acid reflux however, since I have had my surgery I have not had much trouble with it. Maybe cause I can't eat that much. I think it is good that you are going to see your doctor. Hopefully it is something that can be worked out very easily.
Rita.
