Who has had their band in Mexico? I need a surgeon.

My insurance deneid me, so this has to come out of my pocket. So off to Mexico I go. Any recommendations? I looking at Dr. Roberto Rumbaut, he looks pretty good. But I would like to hear from anyone that had theirs done in Mexico, likes/dislikes/complications/accomodations etc. Thanks. Lori

Hi Lori, Before you run off to Mexico, check first to make sure you have a surgeon locally who will handle your after-care. My friend in Florida was getting snuffed by local surgeons about the idea of them handling the after-care. I'm not sure if they're as persnickety here in Ohio,, but worth checking.

For fills, Dr. Curry in Cincinnati does them for $150. I also feel I know Dr Curry personally, I used to work at the same hospital as an RN, plus he has done a RNY on another nurse and close personal friend of mine. Not to mention, I also consulted with him a few years back on a possible RNY for myself that I later decided not to pursue. Also, Dr. Joya does them for free, so a well timed vacation to Mexico could also serve as a fill appointment. Of course I would have to pay for travel to Mexico, but the fills themselves are free Lori
