I am going to have to self pay for surgery. I have heard of some doctors in the Columbus area that do lap bands for around $10,000. I can't find this doctor on the web. Any one know who this may be or have any self pay pricing info they can share?

Lynne, I have never heard of a self pay price that low. Good luck on that one! Dr. C

There is one in Coos Bay Oregon running a 10K special on lap bands. http://www.baybariatrics.com Lori

I'm not sure what they offer for lap bands, but I know that Kettering Medical Center has "cap charges" for self-pay patients. This means that the price won't change if you encounter any complications, and with my surgeon, it also covered all testing and the first 6 mos of follow-up care.

Thank for your info. I will check into that. I do have insurance but so far they will not pay for WLS for me anyway. I have been very active, but obese, pretty much all my life. I am turning 40 this year and have decided this is the year I take charge of my life and am determined to have WLS this year, even if I have to take out a loan. It's time.

Not sure about Ohio but the doctor I see in Michigan (near Detroit) does the lap band and self pay is about $12,500. His name is Dr. Pleatman you can find his information at his website (below). He also has a profile on OH too. Hope that helps. http://laparoscopy.com/pleatman/
