Preparing For Surgery
All,
I am scheduled for surgery (lap RNY) at St. Vincent's in Cleveland on 1/29/2007. Any advice on how to best prepare in the coming two weeks? Stated another way, anything you would have done differently with respect to getting ready for the surgery and the two weeks immediately following post-op. Things to bring to the hospital? Things to get in order before surgery? Any advice and thoughts are welcome.
Thank you,
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
I am right there with you. I am scheduled for surgery at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus on January 31, 2007. I am thrilled and nervous at the same time. I don't know if I will have time to get everything done at home and work before the 31st is here but I am just going to try my best. Good Luck to you on the 29th.
Mary
I just had my surgery two weeks ago -- make sure you take slippers -- you will be walking around. The gowns are really big enough so you don't need a robe -- I took mine and never wore it. I would make sure that you have items you can "eat" when you get home ready before your hospital stay. I bought cream soup, etc, so that I would be prepared when I got home. You may also want to make sure that you have something at home that will puree food -- blender, food processor, etc because puree is the next step after a week or so of full liquid diet. I also bought baby food meat (turkey and chicken) and some fat free turkey and chicken gravy so that I was ready for puree -- if you put the gravy on it --- it really doesn't taste so bad!!!!! Good luck with your surgery.
