I applied for weight loss surgery in april 06. I have medicaid. My pcp wrote letters to them and took care of all the paperwork. I still havent heard a word. I called medicaid and was told to have my doctor call them because they can't tell me anything. I give my pcp the message that I get, I wait for her to call me, she doesnt. And she just left her practice. So now I don't know what to do. I need this surgery extremely bad. I weigh over 400 lbs. I'm terrified to have it, but know I need to. Any advice?
Actually, from what I've heard at the Cleveland Clinic, Medicaid is one of the quickest responders. Doesn't make much sense that you never heard anything. You really have to keep on people, though. (Not blaming you, jus' sayin'...) Do you have a surgeon? Their office should be handling all of the paperwork, not necessarily the PCP. Let us know what happens. Big hugs, Karen

Hi everyone, thanks for the advice. I was going thru OSU, but after sending in the packet I had not heard from them either. (how crazy huh). But to my understanding, with OSU, you meet the surgeon right before surgery . So I thought that once OSU accepted me into their program, things would go from there. Oh well, I'll chalk that up as a mistake. I weigh over 400 lbs, could any of you recommend a good surgeon around columbus, chillicothe, cinncinati..... Thanks!
