How do you find a doctor that will take insurance?????????
Hello Everyone,
How do you find a doctor that will take insurance to do reconstructive procedures.
I have emailed or called about 5 and so far none of them want anything to do with WLS and reconstructive procedures for removal of extra skin. They all have said it's cosmetic.
How do you enlighten or educate these doctors that this is not just cosmetic???
Thanks,
Robin
I haven't had my WLS yet, but I did lose over 80 pounds and got a tummy tuck years ago. I went to a general surgeon who also specialized in breast augmentation and abdominoplasty. They were more than willing to submit information to the insurance company about my "pannis" (the hanging skin at the abdomen) and it was covered as a result. Your best bet is to get an appointment with a surgeon who does reconstructive surgery for a consult, and take it from there. I cannot believe that 5 different doctor's offices were so rude to you! When you call top set the appointment, just say you would like a surgery consult. If they need more information, explain that you have an oversized pannis(I know, funny, eh?) as a result of weight loss if you DO and that you need to have it removed. (I am assuming your skin is causing problems for you beyond "cosmetic" reasons.) You'll find someone. Let us know how it goes. hugs, Karen
