OK , I have not had a cigg now for 2 1/2 days. WHOO HOO!! I know that some people may think 2 days ? whats that, but me it is great. I smoked my last "cheat" cigg on x-mas eve, I put a patch on that nite and have went through 2 whole days without cheating once. Ok am I craving Heck Yes I am, But I keep telling myself I can do this, I am worth it, I try and think about the money I am saving, ( was spending 63.00 a wk on ciggs) My hubby is quitting too, so yeah were a little "short" with each other at times, but we both know it will all pass soon. He has "cheated" a time or two I think, but I wont say anything, he is quitting to support me and to lower his health Ins, If you are a smoker after 1/07 you will have to pay 80.00 more per mo for your health Ins where he works at. So he has reasons to, plus I keep telling him how much we will both feel a month from now, I must say this is the hardest thing I have done, I smoked for 26 yrs and about a pk a day for the past 15 yrs, so this is very hard for me, I loved to smoke the drawing on it , holding it, but I never did like the smell, the cost or the health pitfall from it. I have although one problem I am wanting to Nibble all the time now, I am drinking alot of water, but I am wanting something sweet and I was never a big candy, choclote sweets type, but man I had 8p of choch covered peanuts yesterday, I am afraid that when I go next wk to weigh in I will have gained a little, I am not able to walk alot right now, knee is very bad got to go see an ortho about it next month. But anyway hope everyone had a good Holiday, I just wanted to share my small success at my non smoking with everyone. Please keep me in prayers that my success will contiune and that craveing get less as time goes by. Thanks HUgs to all Jan

Hello Jan, Way to go!!!!! 2 days is really great! I am a ex smoker, I betcha I quit 15 times. Now its been over 2 years since Ive had a cig... My Husband is with me too. We just had to make up our minds to do it. For me it was the birth of my first granddaughter (Emma) I knew that smoke was not good for lil babies, well for aldults too, anyway thats what did it for us! She is 2 years old now and just a doll baby. I was always afraid of gaining weight, well I gained and was banded a year later. I'm doing great right now. You keep up the good work. One day at a time......... and then you wont believe its been a week, a month a year!!!!! Hang in there! Pam

Good for you, Jan. I've been thinking about you. Try some of the sugar free hard candies like Cremesavers and the Whether's SF.

I am new here, but I have been an ex-smoker for a year after smoking for over 20 years. You should definately go over to whyquit.com and READ. This site and the support through Freedom from nicotine have been instrumental in my being able to stay quit this time. You are doing an amazing job! Remember not to rely upon your dear husband's quit in order to maintain your quit. My husband quit with me and relapsed this past July. I never thought I could do it if he didn;t quit...but I proved myself wrong. The worst thing you can do is rely upon someone else's resolve. YOU will do this and you will be amazed at the difference in your life. It is such a freedom not to have to feed my body nicotine every half hour. Drink plenty of fluids, including cranberry juice. I went cold turkey and this really helped a lot. If you decided to go cold turkey (I've tried every other way, and cold turkey worked for me.) the nicotine will be out of your system in 72 hours. Thats it! Then it is psychological. You have an addiction to a drug named nicotine...arm yourself with information and you WILL do it! God bless you! -Karen

Jan, You are doing TERRIFIC!!! Keep it up!! I knew you could do it. I'm glad your husband's is doing this with you because it doesn't work when one quits or tries to quit and the other doesn't. I am so proud of you. I'll keep you in my prayers. Peggy

Jan: Good luck in your journey to quit smoking. You have a good start. I've heard it said that it gets easier with each passing day. I don't know for myself (never being a smoker) but remember that you and your husband is in my prayers. Keep up the good work. Annetta
