I met my doctor
Well I met with Dr. Schumacher(Dayton area) on Wed. went really good he is really nice. He was real upfront and straight to the point. I am glad that UC Physicians fell through, it seems all to be falling into place now. I am now doing the final steps meeting with the dietician and exercise person. Well and I have to have a few tests (cardio stuff , cause it runs in my fam) I also found out that I have to get one of thoose filter things that blocks blood clots. I guess it looks that i will have it at Sycomore Hospital their table can sit up at a 30 digree angle while they operate so gravity will help them have more room and better view ... less likely to have to go to open. We decided on RYN. His offive staff was really nice, found out they have support meeting 2nd Wed of every month. I am excited but very nervous. i have a 10yr old and a 18mth old , I can't wait till I can do things with them. Any way I just had to spill, I usually get on here once a day and you all have helped so much already just by your post . I hope to get to know you all.
Linda
Linda,
Best of luck to you. I had Dr. Schumacher for my surgery too. He's the BEST!!!!! I had a gastric sleeve done on Oct. 30th. I too had to have a greenfield filter put in prior to my surgery. I was more scared for that I think than the surgery but it's a breeze. I didn't feel a thing. Mine was supposed to be temporary but turns out its a permanent one because they couldn't get it out. No worries though.
Dr. Schumacher's staff is AWESOME and so is the staff at Sycamore hospital. Dr. Schumacher and Jarrod will come and see you a couple times a day while you are in there. And Ann will help you out too, she's GREAT.
Good luck to you. Maybe we can meet sometime at the support group meeting.

Hi Julie,
It is great to hear more good news on the Doc. I got a really good impression when I met him. He brought up the sleeve with me also but he thinks I can go ahead with the full RYN but we desided if he got in there and it looked safer for me to go with the sleeve that is what he will do. It is wonderfull to hear from someone who is close by. I had asked him about the support group and was so happy to hear about the meetings. I cant wait to meet ya I plan on going to the next meeting to meet everyone. He said that I had just missed the one for this month. I look foward to meeting you. Oh did you have a hard time getting in touch with the dietician? , they never called so the doc's office gave me their number I have left to messages and still nothing.
Any way thanks for writting
Linda
Hi Linda,
No, the dietician's office actually called me that day to schedule something. I'd call them again. My last visit in there the receptionist told me they had people on a waiting list now because of the last seminar so I'd call again. Keep calling until you get your appt. scheduled. I'll be honest, that is the only group that I thought was lacking out of the whole experience. They were just ok where everyone else was super (if that makes any sense).
Best of luck to you whatever you plan to do. Dr. S wouldn't do the RNY on my. he said my BMI was too high and that it would be greater chance of leakage when he pulled my intestines up.
I am EXTREMELY happy with the sleeve. I was very skeptical at first, but after I went on that message board and did research I felt like it was the right decision so best of luck whatever surgery you have.
I can't wait to meet!!! I'll definitely be at the next support group meeting in Jan.
Best of luck.
Take care,
Julie
