Hi, I went to my PCP for physical and all kinds of blood work. When I was there she asked if I am watching me weight (watching it go up I thought. lol) and I told her I wanted to get WLS. She said "Absolutly not, no way Hosay" she said "people need to understand that the reason why they are overweight is because they have a slow metabolism and even though they might lose the weight they will regain it all back in a few years" I just dropped the subject because I didnt want to get into a fight with my PCP. Does she not understand that my stomach is going to be made into a small pouch, and a lot of my intestines will be bypassed? Does she not know what she is talking about? or is there any truth to it? I know that I will have to follow what my Nut and Surgeon says, but she has me really worried now. I really want to get it done, but if she is right, and I am going to regain it all back, it doesnt seem worth it.. Thanks in advance! -Kellie

She is clearly not familiar with the extensive research that has been done on both gastric bypass and lap band. There is a failure rate for both surgeries, but if you follow the rules you will not fail. Dr. C
