Our daughter moved to Hudson, Ohio a couple years ago and we visit her home at Christmas. One of the things on my "top 20 things to accomplish in life" is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh. She has not been successful in finding anywhere close to the Cleveland/Akron area that offers that.
Do any of you long-time Ohio residents have any suggestions as to where we might look?
Thanks!

Hi DeeDee,
I live in Hudson, OH too! Perhaps your daughter and I are neighbors?! Anyway, dont know of anything in the immediate area, but...
There is amish country, only about an hour south of us, they always have horse and buggy rides available and perhaps a sleigh? I will see if I can find any information for you, but you can google Sugarcreek, it is a main town in the amish country. There is a train you can ride and hear information about it, great restaurants, cheese shops, quilt shops, etc... It is a nice way to spend a day, my kids love it too.
Good luck on you trip out to us, have fun!
Michelle

Our daughter and son-in-law live on Barlow and are active at HCC. They have been there a little over two years and absolutely love the Hudson area. We enjoy visiting as well and have spent the day with them in Amish Country. I believe she's already checked for sleigh rides there to no avail.
http://www.brandywinefalls.com/sleigh_rides.htm - Brandywine Falls area has typically offered sleigh rides but they have cancelled them for this year. It's the only place she's been able to find. I may just have to wait until they start back next year.
If you hear anything about sleigh rides in the vicinity I would sure appreciate it. I can guarantee you we'll never have them in Mississippi - we rarely get snow!
Thanks,
DeeDee
Hi Deedee,
I live about 10 minutes from Hudson. I believe there is a some type of horse drawn carriage in downtown Cleveland that goes around the by Terminal Tower. Also Brandywine has something horse drawn near the ski resort which is close to Hudson. I would check them out and see if that might be what you are looking for. Also try to do a google search. Hope your dream comes true. Molly

Thanks - we have horse drawn carriage rides where I live and I've been on several. I've just never been on a sleigh ride and that's what I'm looking to do. We don't get snow much here so there is no market for sleigh rides.
I found the only one on-line in the Hudson area but they aren't doing them this year.

If you hear of anything else please let me know.
Thanks!

Hi DeeDee, I believe you might find your dream in the little town of Chagrin Falls, Oh. Usually in the downtown area there is a horse-drawn bugy that that will whisk you around the area to view the sights and sounds of christmas in ole Charigin Falls.
Its not that far from Hudson say about 35 min. if that. Anyway make a day of it have lunch in one of the cute cafe', window shop a bit, take a look at the falls in the center of town (my be frozen about now ), I think you may enjoy a day in CF.
Have fun, J

I've been to Chagrin Falls and it is charming. However, I'm looking for a real official SLEIGH ride and not a horse/buggy ride. The only one I've found in the area is in Brandywine Falls but they've cancelled them this year.

If you hear of any other places that are doing the actual SLEIGH ride instead of the horse and buggy ride please let me know.
Thanks!
