Help need protein ideas
I am 10 weeks post op, and I have lost about 35 pounds. I have not lost anything for about 2 weeks or more,, I know we go thru a stall period so our bodies can adjust. But I need ideas for protein.. I don't do the protein shakes, the taste and texture gags me. I put Pro-Stat in my SF jello that I make and eat everyday, but I am really running out of ideas. Help???????I am also getting to where I do not want to eat breakfast again.. I did that before my RNY, and do not want to get back into that habit.. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...
My daughter uses SF carnation drinks and adds choc protein powder, and she uses penut butter on melba toast, she is around 5 weeks out, are you on reg foods now? if so, chicken, cheese sticks, eggs, tuna with low fat mayo, veg beef soup,SF pudding, I only tell you this cause this what my daughter does and she seems to do really well there are other ways, if you would like her to let you know. Hope this helps
Have you tried 'Pure Protein' bars from Walmart or Krogers? I think you can order them online too but I'd try to find them locally in case you don't like them- they're sold as individual bars not by the box. I love the strawberry shortcake and blueberry pie ones--don't like any chocolate flavored bars-I like chocolate but the chocolate protein bars are nasty. These bars are 19-20 grams of protein, I eat one or two everyday--never been a breakfast person either, but have one of these every morning. Hint--our Walmart has the blueberry pie ones in the nutritional aisle near the pharmacy--but the strawberry ones are in the grocery section---Why??? Haven't a clue!
Good luck

I had and am still having the same problem...can't do chicken but soups are a lifesaver for me. If you can do slpit pea or bean they have a lot of protein. I agree the shakes are bad.I stalled for 4 weeks in June (surgery Apr. 17) But have been going down since. Also I do really like the EAS brand drink- Dr Bates at the Barix told me about them. They come in a 4 pack for about 5.00 at Walmart. In the pharmacy.
THey are called Advantedge carb control. I put a vanilla in coffee each morning.. works for me. You can get them at Kroger as well, and Kroger has a dark choc and a coffee house one that is good as is....
Good luck

I eat alot of chicken,, but when I cook it,, I take chicken broth and cook the chicken in that,, it makes it alot moister, I think alot of time when we can't eat meat, it is because it is too dry,, so try that,, also take cream of chicken soup or cream of mushroom soup and cook the chicken in that in the oven. But thanks for all of your comments.
Hello,
I too have trouble with protein supplements. I hate the powders and Isopures...
Someone told me about these protein vials. I haven't tried them yet, but I want to. They are 25 g of protein in a 2.5 ounce vial. Sounds much easier to swallow
