Meeting w/ Surgeon, Psychologist, Nutritionist and INSURANCE

My name is Nate, I am hopefully getting lapband surgery at Cleveland Clinic with Dr. Schauer.... In January I am having an appointment with Dr. Schauer ( I already went to the workshop ) and then with the Psychologist and Nutritionist. What will the psychologist ask me? I am 15 years old and about 310 pounds. Hopefully I can get through insurance requirements ( Blue Cross Blueshield ) Any teens that you know have had lapband or are getting lapband? Any body have trouble with Blue Cross Blueshield Any tips before I meet the surgeon and Psychologist and Nutritionist? [email protected] Thanks Nate

The psyc test is mostly a test you fill out answers to questions on paper. Then an interview with the doctor... Mine was uneventful. Just answer honestly it will be ok. I am glad they are doing teen bands, it must be pretty new in the u.S. A year ago they had to go to mexico to get done. Ask your doctor for a list of teens to talk to that he has done if you don't get response here... Since it is new for teens you May not... Good luck! Pam

I just wanted to wish you luck. The Psych exam is a questionaire, in a room all alone - a ton of questions and then about 15 minutes witht he doctor...uneventful is a good word. Just answer the questions and move on. It'll be fine. I hope you can find a support group in your area and age group. If not, however, feel free to come here!
