I'm home
I had my RNY on Monday the 27th and got home late Friday night. Everything went smoothly during the surgery but I was in extreme pain when I woke up. While in the recovery room my O2 sats dropped and they sent me to the critical care unit for a day and a half to keep an eye on me. While in CCU I started vomitting blood which really freaked me out but was told that it happens sometimes and I was going to be OK. I was then moved to a normal room Tuesday evening. My oxygen levels were still very low and I had to stay on oxygen for the rest of my stay. Late Tuesday night early Wednesday I started passing blood and it wouldn't stop, my complete blood count dropped really low. They continued to check my total blood count every 12 hours and it wouldn't go up and kept going down little by little, I was in blood transfusion range but Dr C wanted to wait to see if I would rebound on my own and luckily he did because on Friday it went up a little and I was allowed to go home. It appears it was old blood that built up during surgery, it is not that common but does happen ocassionally(lucky me). Dr C and Lisa took extremely good care of me and I am happy to say I am now part of the loser's club.
