I don't know what is causing this but this last week has been up and downs with migrains - I workout with a trainer and that seem to be taking a lot out of me that I don't work out on my own anymore. thanksgiving day was spent in bed because my head hurt so bad I can hardly stand it. The worst seemed to have gone away but I feel it creeping back. Anyone know what might be causing this?

Hi Teresa, Well, I spent Thanksgiving in bed also with a migrain. I have had migrains for years and I still am not sure of the cause. I do know mine can be triggered by stress, changes in the weather and any kind of flashing lights. (like the sun while riding in a car, or my personal favorite slot machines) I know I haven't answered your question, just wanted to let you know you are not alone. Judi

I heard a lecture once that said that most migraines are related to hormones in women. If you get more just before your period, this may be the case. They recommended NSAIDS (ibuprophen, aleve) but this is not an option for us. The other thing that they said was that studies showed that magnesium is low in the brains of migraine sufferers. I started taking magnesium daily to prevent migraines and had substantial decrease in them. Not gone, just less frequent or less severe. As with any vitamin, check with a doctor to see if this is an option for you. For certain, make sure you are taking your regular vitamins which do include some magnesium. As for extra, check with your doctor, it may help, it did for me.
