I heard they just opened up their Bariatrics Program there, but I don't know anything about it. Please let us know what you find out. Peggy

I went to a meeting at Riverside. The doctor is Dr. Meyer's. He is from Mansfield, Ohio and has done about 250 RNY but has never done any Lap band surgeries. You can read about the center at fresh start bariatrics. Good Luck. Dawn

I had good intentions in having surgery at Riverside but now I am undecided. I am thinking about going to the barix clinc to see what their program is all about. Dawn

Well Dawn I might do the opposite...I went to the Barix Center about 3 weeks ago...I thinking about going to the Riverside meeting the 5th of December and see what they have to offer. The main thing is if they accept Aetna insurance or not. Dave

Dave- What did you think about the barix clinic? Maybe I wont waste my time on going over there. I just want to make sure that the best doctor will be performing my surgery. I am sure you feel the same way. I will have to say that Riverside offers a program. Its just not surgery and then your done. You are given 6 weeks of personal training after surgery at the McConnel Heart Inst. The exercise program is both on floor exercise and in the pool. You also have serveral appointments with the nutritionist. Riversides goal is to differentiate themselves from any other bariactric center out there. Let me know what you think about RS once you attend the meeting. Good luck Dave and I wish you all the success. Dawn

Dawn....the Barix Clinic was very nice. The people were very friendly and Dr. Viglianco seemed to very nice too. Their furniture was for larger folks and most of the people that worked there had WLS, so that helped. I still haven't decided yet on what to do even though I'm doing much of the things I have to before the surgery like insurance, family doctor, heart tests, breathing tests and so on. The insurance part is a pain in the arse. Can you tell me what your meeting at Riverside was like when you went?...were they helpful?...answer all your questions?...I'm just curious. My kidney doctors practice is located there and he said he would check into their WLS program and let me know more about it. He said he wasn't trying to talk me into going to either one and that he has heard good things about both. He is just glad I'm checking out the the WLS and thinks it's a step in the right direction (he knows it's the right step).

Dave- I seem to be in the same position as you, trying to decide where to go and who do I want to do my surgery. Dr. Myers at RS and his staff are extremely nice. The meeting was very infomative, it lasted about 2 hours. He reviewed every aspect of the RNY and Lap Band. He has done about 250 procedures which is not as many as Dr. Viglianco. If you take a look at other message boards there is one on Dr. Myers. Have you looked at the Cleveland Clinic info? I visited it today and found it to be quite informative. Also the doctors there are extremely experienced having done about 4000 RNY procedures. I think I just made my brain more confused !!!! Oh well I guess I need to let God take it from here he will lead me in the right direction. Good luck! Dawn
