Southeast Ohio WLS Support group.. A Possibility
I am thinking of starting a once a month support group that would have a short topic of relevance. And the rest of the time it would be open forum for us to share with one another things we are struggling with, things we are having success with. And basically just listening and sharing with one another. Most support groups have too structured a time frame and leave little time for socializing and sharing with other pre/post ops.
I live outside of Cambridge Ohio and could find a good place to meet that would be close by the interstate. I am thinking we could have it once a month. Have a protein powder share.. Bring something you dont like, and see if someone else might like it. Share healthy recipes and give each other ideas for using this tool sucessfully post op as we get further out . We might even be able to add some walking and stretching to the meeting
Lets hear from you and see if anyone is interested in being a part of a Local support group, that will be run by US.. allowing us to pick our own topics of discussion and help one another.
Thank you so much
Laura
I'm not sure how far away Cambridge is, and I don't drive well in adverse weather - but if its not too far, and the weather is good - I would love to be involved in regular meetings. I also think its a great idea to share the proteins we've purchased but don't like (someone can benefit from it other than the protein companies), and to exercise together!! A clothing exchange might be a good idea too so we don't go broke buying new clothes!!
Great Idea Laura!!
HI Laura---I'm from the Athens area and would VERY interested in coming to you meetings. I don't see well while driving at night so if the meetings could be during daylight hours--I'll be there!!! If not--I'd come when I can. I do attend support group meetings in Gallipolis (that's where I had my surgery) once a month, unfortunately they are in the evening so I do miss some during the winter months. I really like going to the meetings, they really do keep me on track and I really like all the people there--the staff are all wonderful people and so very helpful. I still have trouble with eating meat (just doesn't taste very good to me). I do like fish a lot---didn't eat it much before surgery--so I have a couple, really good and easy recipes that I've created.. I'd be glad to bring them. I eat a lot of protein bars too--love the strawberry and blueberry Pure Protein bars-carry them with me everywhere I go. Let me know what happens.
Love Wanda
