Questions
Happy Monday everyone! I'm new to the board. My mom had gastic bypass in 2000. She has lost 100 lbs. I'm not quite as heavy as my mom was, but I'm on my way there. I am more interested in the lapband. She had some complications with her bypass so I would rather not look in that.
As I said I'm not quite as big, but I'm on my way there. My insurance company does offer WLS benefits, however your BMI has to be atleast 40 and mine is 37. My first question do any of you know someone who was approved with a BMI lower than 40? I don't have diabetes or any other health afflictions.
If you do know someone, what did they have to do to get approved.
Thanks so much for any answers you can provide. Good Luck to those of you who are going to have the surgery, and congrats to those of you who have already lost weight!!
Hi Jennifer! I was approved for a lap band with a lower BMI than 40, but I had type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure. Do you have sleep problems, depression, headaches, aching joints? Anything like that counts as a co-morbidity. You'll get a lot more infomation over on the Lap Band forum message board. My insurance approved me within 36 hours of getting the request. It just depends on what type of insurance you have. If you have any specific questions feel free to e-mail me directly
