I was denied by my insurance company a few years ago. After several other attemps at weight loss, I am rethinking surgery. My new employer has great benefits but I think WLS is excluded. I'm checking into it though. I am wondering where I would find an accurate estimate of what the surgery would cost for a self payer. Also, is the process the same as it is for insurance? Would I need a referal, etc... Any advice on getting started would be helpful. Thanks, Elaine

It would depend on what type of surgery you're having. I had a Lap-Band, and the total cost was about $22K for doctors & hospital, etc. HTH!

Have you called Dr. Lane's office? He does RNY, DS, Lapband and VSG. They might be able to help. The next info meeting is 11/15/06 at 7pm in Wood County. They have a payment plan, but I don't have alot of details on that. HTH Kim

Thank you, I will definetly look in to Dr. Lane. I am thinking about RNY, I'm not too familier with Lap Band, but thats something I'm sure I will discuss with the surgeron if I get that far. Thanks to all who answered and who will answer. This is a great site, I'm glad I stummled onto it. Elaine
