I know this is way OT, but we are desperately trying to save this dog and praying that there is someone out there who might be able to adopt her. Sylvia is only 14 months old and was rescued from a pound moments before being euthanized as a tiny puppy. She was so sickly from mange and kennel cough that it wasn't known if she would even survive. The kind woman *****scued her has literally spent hundreds, possibly even a couple thousand dollars to save this dog, and had fallen in love with her & planned to keep her forever. Unfortunately, this woman is unable to keep her and is possibly facing losing her own home and having nowhere to go, so she had to place all of her pets asap. My DH and I took Sylvia in, and agreed to foster her until a home could be found, but with us being gone up to 12 hours a day, it is too long to keep this poor girl locked up inside of a cage. She also does not fit in well with our 3 other dogs, as our dogs are all seniors ages 9 and up. Sylvia has blossomed into a beautiful dog and is the silliest thing you've ever seen. She appears to be a Basset Hound mix and possibly mixed with boxer or a little pitbull. She's already spayed, housebroken & crate trained, and current on all vaccines. She is a bundle of energy and LOVES to play fetch and tug of war, or kick a basetball around in the yard. She was raised with 3 other dogs and 7 cats and got along nicely with them all, however she does not get along with our 3 senior dogs and we have been having to keep her separate and in her cage most of the day. I am going to post this on the MI and OH forum also, but I'm praying there might be someone out there who can open their hearts to this sweet angel. Here are some pictures of her, including one that was taken of her as a puppy where you can see just how sick she was with mange. If anyone is willing to adopt her, we will also include a bag of her food, and her cage that she sleeps in. We are also willing to assist with transporting her, if someone is willing to open their homes and heart to Sylvia. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i301/jmeloche/sylvia2a.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i301/jmeloche/sylvia2011.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i301/jmeloche/sylvia2008.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i301/jmeloche/babysylvia1-1.jpg

Hi Julie, Wish I could help you with a home, but with 2 dogs and 5 cats, we are maxed out. All pound puppies and kitties. Hope all is well with you. Linda

I can't help either, tho I would love to...I'm wondering if you could find a Bassett rescue...do a search on google and see if there is a rescue that will either take her in or help advertise her need for a home while you foster her. I know handmedowndobes.org (or .com?) takes in dobermans, so I'm thinking you might be able to find one for bassetts too.... Best of luck with her....
