It doesn't matter whether you have Anthem, Humana, Aetna, etc. - what matters is whether your employer included surgical weight loss as a part of the plan they purchased. If not, it's like trying to get flood damage covered by your fire insurance - the company isn't saying you don't need it they're just not going to pay for it. Good luck! Dr. C

I have anthem blue access, I haven't had any problems, but it has been a long and tedious process. As long as you do what is asked, there shouldn't be a problem. If the surgeon waits to send everything all at once, it takes alot less time than sending things in a piece at a time.

Hi Tammy, I also have Anthem Blue Access. As of right now wls is an exclusion in my policy. But thanks to God as of 01/01/07 it will be a covered benefit at 80/20. I have known about this for about a month now, and am actively in a wls research frenzy. I have called Anthem at least 6-8 in the past 2 weeks with questions about the 2007 policy. They were very helpful. Seeing as all Anthem is not the same, even tho we both have Blue Access, it may still be different, I suggest you give them a call. Like I said they were very helpful to me. They have a web site dedicated specifically to wls, now I don't know if this would be the same as your policy, but is called Blue Distinction, it's bcbs.com/bluedistinction. Give it a try. Please CALL them, get your info first hand. I read your page, and I just want to say God Bless you. All the trials and tribulations you have faced in the past will be greatly rewarded by God. And by the way we are home girls, I am also from Hamilton. Take care, and I pray that this info will help you. Be blessed....
