Hello, I am new here looking for advise and support. Coinsidering the Lap band. I was wondering what the life expectancy of the lap band is. Concerned with eroision and it falling apart later down the road. Anyone experienced with Dr. Shchofield in Middletown? My appointment is in a couple weeks, just did the seminar. Looking forward to a new life!

Welcome Tammy, Sorry I can't help you with that doctor, I'm going to OSU Bariatric's in Columbus, OH. Where is Hamilton, OH? Is it close to Cincinnati? If it's not too far, if it's lap band you want, I'd check out Trace Curry. A lot of people here have used him and swear by him. Have you checked the lap band message board? You probably can get more answers there about the eroision and such. Congratulations on your decision. Peggy

What exactly is lap RNY bypass? is it the same as a regular RNY? if not, what are the differences? I had an open RNY in 2001. Thanks

A lap RNY is just a regular RNY done with tiny incisions. Dr. C

So, its laproscopically? I was wondering, is there such a thing as a RNY with a lap band? I thought I had heard of the surgery being performed with a lap band to keep the smaller stomach that is created from stretching. Is it possible to have a lap band done over an existing RNY? Thank you

We have quite a few revisions on the DS Messageboard, some Band to DS and some RNY to DS. Have you looked into that?
