I am Miserable! Kim Post OP
I accidentally posted on the main RNY message board yesterday . I am too weak to retype so I am linking to it.
It has now been 8 days since surgery and I am having trouble not regretting it.

Kim... I have to be honest and tell you that I felt this way for the first 4-5 wks after surgery... but it will get better.. at 6 wk post op I went to Disney World with my family and did not have any trouble keeping up with them. It is hard when you are only taking in a few hundred calories and trying to heal from major surgery. And the pain is intense. Then there are all the tricks your mind plays on you..." Why did I do this...I just want to eat... ect.ect.ect".... Just hang in there.. make sure you are gettting enough fluids.. that can make you fell even worse.. and all the protien you can force yourself to eat... I promise you wil not be sorry you chose this path to health...Make a list of all the things you want to do when your lose wt... and then just wait till the scale numbers start to go down... that is the best thing in the world....
Kim, what your feeling is so normal, just remember this too shall pass. I can tell you your doing great, about 2 weeks post for me I was back in the hospital for 4 days and then at 4 weeks, I was back in for 10 more with a second surgery, I had 4 adhesions and twisted bowels, so just remember things could be worse. I can tell you from someone that has had more complications then most that you WILL get better and start moving to a new beat of that drum. If you need to chat just let me know....Good luck and remember pain pills are our friends.......

Did you have open surgery. I know how you feel. Walking helps. I am sure most of it is gas. You need to walk as much as you can. Walk around the house. The first 6 weeks was really hard on me. Then over night you feel like a million dollars. If you can get off that pain med and start walking I think you would get better faster.

Hang in there Kim!! I promise you - one day you will wonder why you ever regretted it. Since you are still in a lot of pain, take them regularly. Don't wait until you are in pain, plan ahead - set an alarm if you need to. Don;t worry about taking them. The doctors wouldn;t ive them to us if we didn't need them. And give yourself some time. Remember that you had MAJOR surgery.
Good Luck

Kim,
I am 4 weeks post-op. It has been hard but each day it gets better. What helped me was walking. One Sunday my husband and I went to the mall before the stores opened. We walked the top and bottom area's. I was amazed how much better I felt.
And at the mall you can take breaks and rest.
The other thing I did was read profiles here on OH. I have been inspired by many.
And I never thought I could loose this weight. But it's happening and I like what I see and how I'm feeling. I'll be thinking of you, GM
Kim.. I am going to dig up some of my early posts. Those early days when I fell into a deep depression. I had huge regrets and suffered from the loss of my best friend.. FOOD. But I soon found support and love here and sought help with Meds. Kim.. Believe us.. This feeling does go away and each new day you find one new reason to smile. A simple task becomes easier because of a few pounds lost. One day you tie your shoes without feeling like you are going to have a stroke, and it dawns on you. This is GOING TO BE AWESOME!!!!!! So please lean on us.. Let people help you through this tough time and keep in mind that a year from now you are going to be posting to another newbie encouraging them through this time. You are gonna be a loser.. A biggin.
Big Hugs
