You have a BMI of 42.8.
This indicates that you are Extremely Obese.
Your BMI is high enough to qualify you for bariatric surgery.

Medicare may cover your surgery. Medicare recently began covering this surgery but it does need to be medically necessary. Medically necessary means that you must have a condition, other than just being overweight, that would make it necessary to have it. Do you have diabetes? Do you have high blood pressure? What about High Cholesterol? How about pain do to your weight? These kind of things could qualify you to have this surgery. Have you seen your Primary Care doctor? You will need to find a Medicare Participating doctor to do your surgery. I am sure their office will let you know what else you may need. For more information, call 1-800-Medicare. The Customer Service Representatives can assist you with coverage criteria.

Hope this helps
Hi and welcome!
Ditto for everything that is said....you must also choose a hospital that has the right creditionals. They have to be called a "center of excellence" in bariatric surgery. There are a few in Ohio....I think 4 or 5 hospitals is all. They are the only hospitals that will be covered by Medicare.
Good luck on your journey!
