Aches and Pains normal?
I have lost 80# and overall I feel great, more energy etc.. but I do have alot of pain in my legs, back of my thighs, lower back and hips. Sometimes I feel like an old lady walking around. The pain is similar to when you work in the garden or do yard work.
My PCP didn't seem too concern about it and prescribed Ultracet. I take just one a day as I don't want to get to used to it. The pain does make me rather cranky.
I had pain in my knees etc before the surgery, I thought losing the weight would make it go away. Chemical imbalance? I am trying to keep up with fluids.
Anyone else?
Mel,
I had a lot of pain in my joints post op - mostly my hips when I walked. Part of it was from having to go off my arthritis medication. I think some of it was inactivity right after surgery, then having to have a second surgery a month later - more inactivity. I found the more I walked the better my joints felt. Being down over 100 lbs is starting to ease the pain also. My PCP gave me Ultracet, which helped the muscles in my back, but didn't do much for my joint pain.
Keep moving, it will get better.

Miss Mel,
I found a lot of new aches and pains as I lost weight. Your body was used to and had adjusted to carrying around 80 plus pounds of extra weight. As you are losing you are moving differently and most likely becoming more active. I found I ached in a different place each time I had a burst of weight loss. Right now I am having neck and shoulder pain. I think we just carry ourselves differently and use new muscles ... I still have problems at times sitting down in a chair. I was used to having LOTS of padding and would plop down in a chair, now theres my bony hiney.. LOL
I find Arthritis Tylenol helps me a lot and time soaking in a hot bathtub, and a nice massage from my Scantily clad swedish massuesse Sven.. Yeee ha!!! Pain.. What Pain????
Take care and Keep up the Great progress
Hugs,
Miss Laura
I was always told that my weight was the reason for all my back pain, and I was so convinced that when I lost the weight I would be free of the pain - I have lost 117 pounds now and I have way more pain in my back then before. In fact I have more pains than I ever did before. I think that the problem is losing all that extra cushion it must have helped to isolate me from some of the aches and pains that I am feeling now.
