What ifs....
It is terrible when you want something so bad and then you sit and think of things that could go wrong and you won't be able to get it. That's how I feel about getting RNY. I have to show five years of weights and I have doctor's notes for 98, 99, 2000, 01, 03, 04, 05 and 06 -- no 02. And then in 03 my weight was 98 pounds overweight. I more than make up for the difference in all of the other years and have the usual problems that lots of us have -- diabetes, high blood pressure and some other issues. I am just so afraid that this isn't going to happen because the insurance isn't going to approve. Anyone else have these kind of doubts?
I think it's normal to have these kinds of doubts, insurance companies make it as complicated as they can. Just think if you were talking about cardiac bypass instead of gastric bypass - do you think they would make you show that you had chest pain for 5 years? Or that you quit smoking and were following a healthy diet for 6 months before surgery?
Hang in there!

I also have those kind of doubts. I think alot of us that are wanting to have this wls, have those doubts. I am in my 4th month of my supervised diet(ins requires 6 mths) I am so worried that they will still say no. If we just hang in there, I am sure we will both get what we want.
Good luck to you,
Tracy LeAnn
Hi Tracy
I too had to go on a six month diet.... man, was I totally upset.... and was so concerned that after all that I would still be turned down.... BUT I was still in my fifth month and the insurance went ahead and approved me. Now I am GLAD that they had me do that... it has made the liquid diet for 10 days and the pureed for 18 days seem very do-able compared to six months. I don't know what insurance you have... but sometimes they have 'policy' that just has to be filled or completed and then bingo... you're in. So keep your chin up and think positive. {{{{Tracy}}}}

Think back.. Did you have any ER visits in 02 that you might have forgotten about. I would document your own ways that you tried to lose weight that year. Grapefruit diet, rice diet, cabbage soup etc. You can also get copies from your pharmacy of all of your prescriptions filled by you for your co morbidities during that year. Just trust in that fact that God has brought you this far in your persuit to have the WLS and he will keep opening doors so it can happen for you.
Your fears are completely normal. I remember the morning of my surgery being drugged up and singing to the ceiling tiles as they are wheeling me to surgery.. " I really really really cant believe this is actually happening"... Its just that we want it so badly and know how much better our life will be post op the fears that it will never happen are natural. Put your faith in the good Lord and trust that it will happen when its the exact right time for you
Keep Smiling..
