What does dehydration feel like?

I know I did not have many fluids in today, nor did I have enough protein. We went to the Cinci Children's Museum, and when we left (about 5pm), I was having some flu-like symptoms including nausea, chills, and fatigue. It went away after a bit, but when we got home, DH made me some salmon, and I sipped a bit of water as he was making it. I started to feel sick again. It went away, I ate some salmon, and now it's back again. I'm scared that I'm dehydrated, but I have no idea what it feels like. I really feel like crap! Anyone have some ideas? Thanks in advance.

Here's the symptoms from WebMD: Symptoms of mild dehydration include: Increased thirst. Dry mouth and sticky saliva. Reduced urine output with dark yellow urine. Your urine may have a strong odor. Symptoms of moderate dehydration include: Extreme thirst. Dry mouth with no saliva. Dry eyes; no tears. Decreased urination, or urinating 3 or fewer times in 24 hours. Urine is dark amber or brown. Arms and legs that may feel cool to the touch. Feeling very tired, restless, or irritable. Lightheadedness that is relieved by lying down It says drink: water, diluted juices, etc. and rest. I can remember once right after surgery that I did not eat for 3-4 hours due to standing around with DH getting new cell phones, numbers downloaded, etc and I had those same symptoms. Took some time to feel better even after eating and pouch was not happy with me for quite a while. If you don't feel better call your dr.

Karen gave you some really good information. I ended up in the ER by squad a week ago by letting myself get dehydrated on top of having a bladder infection.. The last thing I remember was telling my daughter I was feeling dizzy and needed a drink of water. The next thing I remember was waking up in the er with 2 IV's going full blast into me. If you dont feel like eating. Keep sipping tha****er and munch on those wonderful sugar free popsicles. They seem to settle my tummy when I have the nausea from the extreme heat... Its just hard to be hungry when its so hot and miserable. But those cheapo Walmart popsicles are a lifesaver. Just rest and enjoy some time for yourself. Catch up on some reading and watch some funny DVD's.. Keep sipping and munching those popsicles. I also find that a little sugar free ginger ale works wonders. Let us know how you are doing. Laura

Thanks, ladies. I am feeling much better this AM. I slept about 12 hours last night and sipped water, etc. I was freakin' out a bit. Take care, Sarah

Miss Sarah, Your body tells you when you need to take a break and take care of yourself. Its a good thing you tuned into that and got some much needed rest and did your sipping. It is so easy to get dehydrated with this heat and our small little tummies. So when was your surgery and how much have you lost so far???? What is your personal goal???? Hope to get to know you a little better. Hugs from Southeast Ohio Miss Laura
