I was just wondering if this is normal. I may call the Dr in the AM. My surgery was LAP RNY. In one area around my incision to the right of my belly botton, the skin feels numb. Is this normal and will it go away? Betina

Betina, Have you had any other abdominal surgeries ( c sections, hysterectomies etc. ) I have had all of the above and I experienced numbness and tingling at all my surgical sites. But the upside is that since so many nerves were already damaged from the prior surgeries I had very little pain.. I would talk to your Dr and ask him if this is normal for you. Take care, Keep drinking and keep walking., Hugs Laura

Betina, I haven't had my bypass surgery yet but I have had a hysterectomy (1990) and experienced numbness around the incision. In fact, I have a bikini cut and still have some spots that are numb, like in between my belly button and the incision. Peggy

Yes, it's normal. I still have no feeling in the area right around my c-section incisions, which were 8 and 5 yrs. ago.

It's scar tissue. I've had 2 c-sections, one exploratory appendectomy, my gall bladder removed, and now Lap RNY. I've always had numbness around my scars/incisions.

Hey there B.B!! Just got back from a 3 mile walk with DMS and my Jeff. She told me about your blog. I am so excited for you and wish you the best. You have already passed me up in weight loss. Good for you! When I had my c-sections, I had numbness at my incisions. (Worse with Steven) Hope it has gotten better for you. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see you next week. Hugs..Donna :-)
