help!!!!!!!!!!! if you can............
i weigh approx. 410lbs. i was diagnosed with sleep apnea in may. i am pretty healthy otherwise. but i do have i guess what you would call "normal" problems. i have trouble tying my shoes, and fitting into jeans, and standing for longer than 30 min. without my legs being in excruciating pain, not to mention my lower back! and so on and so on.it has been suggested by at least 3 doctors that i have weightloss surgery. but my problem is the cost........... i am currantly working, but only in the part time capacity. i feel a bit worthless at my job because my weight causes pain, and it is near impossible to stand for an 8 hr. shift.
as i was saying before the problem with the surgery is cost. i have tried just about every means to get some kind of assistance. and my own resources are tapped out and my brain is fried. i could use any suggestions or help if there is any. i would appreciate any response. thank you.
If you are only working part time can you get Medicaid? It might be worth it to quit working all together and start seeing Doctor's about not being able to stand or walk... It got so bad for me that I had to quit working and after almost four years of seeing doctor's for the pain in my leg and foot they finally took an xray and saw that my ankle was fractured for those four years and never healed, the bone fragments are tearing my tendons apart and the ankle is bone on bone.. That's what got me the surgery. You have to be totally sure that this is what you want and willing to fight for it. Medicaid denied me 5 times before I got my approval and I am due to have surgery in September. I am pretty healthy also...No high blood pressure or diabetes... But the fact that I couldn't stand at my job anymore and not being able to be mobile like I wanted was (is) killing me...If I didn't have Mediciad I know there would have been no where else to turn (I think that's why I fought so hard for the approval) I have no monthly income and only get food stamps, so self pay was impossible... I also heard about Vocational Rehabilitation that will pay for your surgery fi you sign a contract that you will get a job once you can...I don't know much about it or if there is one in Ohio that will pay but some people from some of the other states have tried this. I would go on the main message board and ask if anyone has gotten their surgery this way and see what you would have to do to qualify....I wish you luck in whaever you decide.
