After years of "kinda considering" the bypass surgery I went thru the steps and got insurance approval in 3 days! Now I am just this side of crazed trying to prepare before the 12th. My biggest worry is money (of course) I have been out of work since shortly before approval due to a pinched nerve and compressed disk causung spasms that make it almost impossible to walk without assistance. I have to purchase 3 months supply of protein, multi vits and calcium before surgery and am trying top figure out which protein is the best value and still tastes decent. Please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Kim

Hi kimberly..why not try bariatriceating.com they have a sample package that is affordable, that way you can try lots of different flavors etc. check out all the different vendors here at OH like profecta..email them asking for samples, same with vitamins etc. I know there is bariatricadvantage.com bariatricaid.com allvitamn which shows up here on this page..I believe the add says a free month supply. All you have to do is go to the top of this page and click on the tap that says (store) also go to the main message board of the front page of this site, lots of advertisements there. Make sure you add to the message your surgery date so that you do not get supplies that is meant more for someone further out.. Good luck! Brenda

That's sorta of how I felt but I had much more time to adjust. I just kept going until I was approved, completed my classes, met the surgeon and had a date. Now I have a date I feel so much better. Good luck to you. Dianna

Hi, Kim, Yes, bariatriceating.com is the way to go... Brenda is right.. that is where I get my protein and is it Great! I bought a bag of protein from them while on my six month diet and it has lasted.. and lasted.. and lasted.. and I was drinking it once and sometimes twice a day. I just got the profecta.. haven't tried it yet... but I'm sure it is great too.... [actually going to go try it now ] hugs, Barbara G.

My surgery is scheduled for Sept 12th also!!!!!!!!!!! I just bought some samples from Unjury.com (they have the unflavored that you can add to anything) and some from wlssupplies.com..They have a sample pack where you can pick the flavors you want. they have fruit flavors and really good sounding flavors! Also Walmart sells their protein for about 14.00 for a giant tub. It is called body fortress premium whey protein, I have seen it in chocolae and vanilla...I have tried both and the chocolate is better to me and I don't usually like chocolate.. I hear that everyone says to wait until after surgery to stock up because your tastes change so much that you may not like what you liked before surgery. That's kind of why I bought the packs of samples... I am on a very limited budget and don't want to take a chance on buying a lot of something I am not going to be able to gag down. Also with the unjury samples they sent a few pages of yummy recipes to add the protein to... Good luck with your surgery..

We are also on a tight budget, but my surgeon insists on 3 months supply be brought in at the history and physical appointment or he will cancel the surgery date. Its very frustrating, between the protein the vitamins and calcium 3 months supply can run upwards of $300. I think I'll head to GNC, at least that way if I dont like i can return it. Thanks! Kim
