I am an angel for Jimmy Hendrix. He is in desperate need of help. He has been living in Ohio for 8 years, just needed five more months of dietary superivision, and now his wife is filing for divorce. The only place he had to go was Oklahoma to his mother's house. In Ohio he was on medicare and medicaid, case pending for SSI. He has tried to get help here in Oklahoma and they can't help until his SSI is approved. His meds are 900.00 per month and he has severe illnesses. Oklahoma will not help with meds or surgery program or anything right now. Answers please........if you have any input please reply. My input is: I think he needs to go back to Ohio, even if it means a shelter and wait until the judge grants his wife the divorce and see what happens with medicare then. Maybe he will get his diet program finished before then and be approved for surgery. Do any of you know of a place such as a shelter or home or know of any help at all for him. Next month he will have no money for insulin or heart meds, so please reply if you have any information. This is just so unbelievable, I see people all the time on so much state help and here is a person who has worked hard his whole life, payed greatly into the system and willing and wanting to get back to work full time, and still can't get help. What is wrong with the system in America? It was intended for people like this I thought. Please send information if you have anything that can be helpful or wisdom on what to do next. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart. Robbin

I am so sorry to hear this, please tell him he's in my prayers. and i think you're right about coming back to ohio for the divorce but not sure what kind of help he will realy get here that is a real concern for me, in my husbands case when he was fighting for his ssi disability they didn't give him any medical help at all because he didn't have any "natural" children that lived with us but i got help because i do have natural children, its not fair and i know, the strugles well they were bad. my husband did get aproved for his ssi back in Nov 2005 and they still didn't put him on medicare and just now our "case worker" has put him on a medicaid card but we have to meet a spend down first before he can use it.. just a buch of hoops if you ask me.. as far as shelters we do have a homeless shelter here in our town and if you want i can get you more information on what he would have to do to get in there, i have toured the place and it is realy nice. i would love to be a volentee there but i cant untill i can get some of this medical stuff taken care of just send me an email if you would like the information God bless you all paula

am so sorry to hear about Jimmy.. he was so crazy about his wife. Faith Mission is a great shelter in Columbus. It is run by the Lutherine church and they work with people to help them get back on their feet... I think it would be a great place for him. Blessings pam

Most drug companies will help people who don't have the money for meds. His doctors should be able to help with samples until then and should have the info on the programs. Also, I know Ohio has some prescription med programs, but I can't remember their names right now. As far as SSI goes, he runs the risk of having his claim transferred to OK if OH is not close to a decision or needs more information (yeah, that's where I work - don't hate the player, hate the game).
